DT Academy High School Camp Review

 In AAU Basketball

The DT basketball Academy camp brought in over 100 talented players and as always Brandon Boston Jr was the best player from start to finish. Boston just added another trophy to the hardware with his outstanding play. As the kids say, “I want smoke” Boston Jr, wanted all the smoke. He does not back down from competition and wants to prove he is the best to step on the basketball court. Boston jr showcased his all-around game, especially from his favorite spot, the baseline. While Boston dominated the competition during the Top 20 game, here are our standouts players.

Caleb Murphy: (2020) 6’3 G: Murphy displayed his uncanny ball handling ability. He is starting to show his star like qualities and looks to have a breakthrough season next year. He has good basketball instincts and loves to beat defenders off the dribble. He has a decent midrange and consistent three-point shot. Murphy has outstanding court vision and does not commit too many turnovers due to careless passes. On defense, he has good awareness and instincts to play the passing lanes.  He is a good on ball defender and is not scared to get in the paint for strong rebounds.

Issa Muhammad: (2019) 6’8 F: Muhammad showcased his athleticism and his ability to score around the rim. He has good speed and quickness on defense. One of the better bigs at the camp. Has a good midrange jump shot.

Brenden Tucker (2019) 6’3 G: Tucker showcased he has good court vision and is a high riser. He can get to the basket at will.  Brenden has committed to play basketball at the College of Charleston and should be able to contribute right away.

Dwon Odom (2020) 6’2 PG:  Odom showcased he is a high flyer and fantastic finisher underneath the rim. Odom is very unselfish with the basketball and has good court vision. Plays through contact and is very athletic.

Rodney Carson Jr (2019) 6’4 G: Carson Jr, showcased that he is very athletic with his basketball game. He drives strongly to the basket and takes on all challengers. He is not afraid of contact.

Ashton Malone PG (2022) Norcross High

Chandler Minton G 2020 Mount Pisgah

Kovey Wesley (2019) Redan High School

Darius Gaddy (2020) Wheeler High School (Showcased his soft touch around the rim and strength. Gaddy is a big body lefty but needs to improve his explosiveness around the rim, and footwork.)
