Hoop Exchange Fall Festival Showcase

APOPKA, FL- Great basketball was on full display this past weekend at Scott Bolden’s Hoop Exchange Fall Festival. This event brought out 160 individual players and 36 High School teams.  Hoop Hustlers was in the building and here is who we thought stood out.

Harlond Beverly (Class of 2019) a 6’4 combo guard from Michigan was the best guard we saw at this weekend’s event. Beverly attends Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. He showed his ability to finish above the rim with ease. Beverly also shot the ball well from the perimeter. Beverly has many Division 1 offers and will have to sort through a lot to choose the school that fits him best. It’s amazing the amount of offers he has without playing on any major circuit. He played for Reach Legends, an Independent team out of Michigan.

Omar Payne (Class of 2019) a 6’9 PF from Kissimmee Florida, was the best post player at the fall festival. Omar also attends Montverde Academy and has committed to play basketball at the University of Florida next year. We interviewed Mr. Payne and he said he has a lot to prove this high school season. Omar played his travel season with Chandler Parson, also known as CP25, an Adidas sponsored team.

Lance Erving (Class of 2019) a 6’2 PG from Leesburg High School. Lance scored at will versus DME; he stood out immediately. Lance was very poised, and it showed on the court. His defense also stood out. We will keep our eye on Lance Erving and see where he ends up.

Yussif Basa-Ama (Class of 2020) a 6’9 PF from Saint Andrew’s School. Yussif’s athletic display was on full display this past weekend, he blocked shots and finished about the rim. Yussif shot a couple 3 pointers, which is something he worked on this off season. Yussif has a lot of potential and is a high major Division 1 prospect. He plays his travel season with Team Knight, an Adidas sponsored team.

Moussa Diabate (Class of 2021) a 6’10 PF from the DME School. Hoop Hustlers has Moussa ranked #6 in our 2021 player rankings. Moussa played well – it seemed like he dunked the ball every time he was under or around the basket. We saw Moussa play this past spring at “THE TIP-OFF CLASSIC” and were very impressed with his performance.

Navuan Peterson (Class of 2020) a 6’5 SG from Edgewater High School. Navuan Peterson made sure his presence was known. Every game he played he stood out. He was always around the rim. Navuan has a long athletic build, quick first step and goes to the basket well. Peterson is an interesting prospect, he has all the tools to become a high major prospect but when you search the web there’s not a lot of information out there on him. He is truly under the radar.

Jordan Shorter (Class of 2021) a 6’5 CG from Ft Lauderdale HS. Jordan was the most exciting player at the Fall Festival. You could tell what court that Jordan Shorter was playing on by just listening. You could hear the “Oooohs” and “Ahhhhhhs”. Mr. Shorter shot the ball well from deep, he also displayed quickness and crafty handles. Jordan Shorter plays travel season with Team Breakdown, an Under Armour sponsored team.

Gary Jones III (Class of 2020) a 6’10 Center from Sickles HS. Gary does what he needs to do as a center. He rebounds the ball, set picks and makes baskets around the rim. He has a lot of potential. It’s going to be interesting to see how he develops.

Khalil Shaheed (Class of 2020) a 6’3 CG from Superior Collegiate. Khalil was amazing in the game that we watched him. He played above the rim, knocked down 3’s and was super energetic which made him stand out. Khalil plays for Thunderstruck during the travel season.

Alex Fudge (Class of 2021) a 6’5 CG from Robert E. Lee High School. Alex was outstanding this weekend. He is super smooth and shoots the ball well from the outside. Alex is what we call a big guard at 6’5 he attacks the basket well. The only negative we saw was he didn’t attempt to layup the ball on the left side with his left hand.

Adrian Walker (Class of 2019) a PG from Milton High School. Adrian was the biggest surprise of the camp. He was super explosive and you wouldn’t think it just by looking at him. He finished well around the rim and has a lot of potential. We are going to keep our eye on him to see where he ends up.
