Augusta, Ga – Saturday at the Ice Breaker got off to a cold start. The lights to Riverview Parks and Recreation went out for some unforeseen reason, but that didn’t stop Javon Bennett from heating up over at Greenbrier High School. The Ga Stars took on Ron Howard and it wasn’t fair. The stars were clearly in a league of their own. Javon Bennet, a 5’9 guard from Trinity Prep in Florida, was the most outstanding player in that game making 5 of 5 shots beyond the 3pt line. I’ve been around basketball for a long time and I’ll put this kid shot for shot against anybody. Georgia Stars beat Ron Howard by the score of 61 – 27.  Javon led all scorers with 16 points.

The lights are on!! Atlanta Playmakers beat Juice All-Stars by the score of 74 to 68 and the talk of the tournament has been Caleb Murphy, a guard who does what he wants on the floor. Caleb Murphy plays for the Atlanta Playmakers as well as the Adidas Sponsored  Atlanta Celtics. Caleb put on a show versus Juice All-Stars, scoring a game high 30pts. Myles Davis also turned heads while helping the Playmakers beat the All-Stars by chipping in with 17pts.

ATL Hoops beat NO Elite in a tough, hard fought game by a score of 83 – 81. This was a game chippy and exciting game. ATL Hoops was running away with the game earlier but NO Elite fought back making it a game late. This game was full of talking and high flying dunks and blocks. Despite losing, Jordin Farrell put on a show scoring a game high 30pts and helping NO Elite comeback in this game. At one point, I heard Jordin tell the ATL Hoops bench “can’t nobody on your team guard me” and he was right. ATL Hoops had more of a balanced attack with Jehloni James scoring 17 pts, Cameron Rowland and Reco Hallmon both helped with 14pts.

Alabama Fusion 15u beat the SC Blazers 64 – 38. Jacari Lane, a 5’11 guard from Lee High School, led the way with 15pts

Q6 – All Stars beat a tough Game Elite (ELW) team by the score of 52 – 46. The score doesn’t do this game justice. This was a close game for most parts of the game. Jaylen Harper led Q-6 with 13pts.

Alabama Fusion EYBL beat Carolina Wolves NC  70 – 43 in dominating fashion. Mark Sears led the Fusion with 15pts.

Kentucky Hoop Dreams vs Upward Stars Riverfront was a back and forth game with Kentucky Hoop Dreams eventually pulling away with the win, beating Upward 80 – 73. Ezekiel Montgomery led Hoop Dreams with 14pts and Howard Fleming Jr added 13pts.

Georgia Stars vs Atlanta Playmakers was the last game of the night and it pretty much put us to sleep. Now players were tired but the Georgia Stars still showed their dominance over the Atlanta Playmakers. The Playmakers were clearly outmatched and it showed. Stars beat the Playmakers 52 – 31. Nahiem Alleyne led the Stars with 8pts, Bretner Mutombo and Jordan Meka followed with 7pts.
