WESTFIELD, IN – Day 2 at the NYBL Session 2 brought more teams in to compete. The first game was Atlanta Select vs All Indy Gym Rats (Red). On court 3, the Louisville Magic were taking on Toronto NuStep Ballers. The NuStep Ballers were no match for the team out of Louisville. The Magic won by the score of 81 – 34. Mikel Brown, a 7th grader A2A is playing up, made his mark on this game leading his team in scoring 18 pts. This is not our first time seeing Brown in action. He stood out at the NYBL first session making the 1st team for 7th grade. We had a chance to interview Mikel and he told us that his NYBL experience has been amazing and he loves the competition. Brown’s 18pt effort wasn’t enough to put away the Dragons. The Dragons won this game by the score of 61 – 58. Jahlijah Grant led The Dragons with 20 pts.

Asheville Game Changers out of Asheville, North Carolina made a huge statement Day 2 in Indy going undefeated in the day. Their first game they barely beat NuStep Gold 56 – 53. That was the closest anybody would get to beating them. Asheville’s 2nd game was against WTX Triple Threat. This game started out shaky and WTX looked like the better team going in at the half up by 2pts. The 2nd Half, the Game Changers did just that, changed the game, they went on a 10pt run and eventually beat WTX 73 – 53. The game was capped by a thunder dunk from Addison Archer of Chase Middle School. Aathan Gill led the Game Changers with 24pts, Addison followed with 21pts. East Carolina Elite continues their domination in the 7th grade division going undefeated on the day, winning every game by 20 plus points, mostly because of Hampton Evans who is one of the best 7th graders in the entire NYBL, if not the country.
