Day 2 here in Augusta started off with a bang! Carolina Cavs didn’t waste time jumping out on their opponent. They beat All Ohio Red by the score of 93 – 54. Trai White led the Carolina Cavs with 18 pts. Devin Johnson followed with 17 pts.

On Court 3, Team United (White) and DCA 2.0 were a back and forth battle with Team United with a slight edge. You could feel the emotions from the coaches. They really wanted this game. DCA made a run for it at the end of regulation but fell short. Robert Dillingham led Team United with 26 pts.

South Carolina Stars took on a scrappy Cream City team. This game went down to the last second, literally. Cream City had the ball with 9 seconds remaining in the game, down 2 points and couldn’t come up with a last second shot to win or put the game into overtime. The Stars beat Cream City 65 – 62. Zay Rivers, the 6’2 Guard from Dutch Fork, led SC Stars with 19 pts.

After taking on Freebandz Elite yesterday, Powerhouse Bullz took their chance against Atlanta Celtics. The score doesn’t tell the complete story of this game. The Bullz were in this game until a little adversity came their way with the refs. They couldn’t keep their heads in the game and got 2 techs from players and 1 from the coach. The Atlanta Celtics kept their composer down the stretch. I could hear Coach McCray telling his kids to walk away and keep their heads. The Celtics won this game 60 – 41. Michael Mathews led the Celtics with 19 pts.

Coach JP of Freebandz Elite told me that he has played every 7th grade team in Georgia except the Atlanta Celtics. Well, he got his chance to play them today. Freebandz Elite jumped out on the Celtics going up on them as much as 20pts, but the Celtics fought back making it respectable at halftime with a score of 41 – 30 (Freebandz). In the 2nd half, Atlanta Celtics came out fighting, cutting the lead down to 6 pts but eventually falling to Freebandz 77 – 71. Marcellus Brigham and Levonta Ivey led Freebandz with 22 pts a piece. Jahkirus followed with 19 pts.

Louisville Magic beat Powerhouse Bullz 59 – 46 behind 17pts from Damone King. Powerhouse coach told Hoop Hustlers that he wanted to find out about a little more about the seeding to see if his team has a chance to play in the NYBL finals in Atlanta.

What started off as a good game between DCA and Team Loaded ended up being a route. DCA turned on the pressure and the pressure was too much for Team Loaded to handle. DCA won 77 – 44, led by Stephon Castle with 19 pts.

Team Felton and Cream City ended up being close despite a large deficit early in the game. Cream City was down 40 – 26 at the half and rallied in the 2nd half to make the game respectable, losing 69 -53. Team Felton was led by Kameron Byrd with 18 pts.

Atlanta Select QS White beat Jacksonville Magic 67 – 38. Ahmed Soumahoro led Atlanta Select with 15 pts.

Carolina Cavs Black ended the night beating Pinnacle Basketball Club 83 – 43. Khalil Cooke led the Cavs with 27 pts.
