THE NYBL REPORT: THE BATTLE OF THE MAGIC CITY DAY 2

Birmingham – What other way to start off a Saturday, then matching up to of the best teams in the country against each other at 8:00am. TSF 2023 and Lebron James Jr’s (Bronny) NCBC was a must-see game at the rising of the sun. This was a thriller of a game that came down to a controversial call or miss call. TSF took the ball out of bounds with 4 seconds left on the clock down 47 – 49, ball was passed in to Isaiah Collier who was fouled on what looked to be a 3pt shoot but the ref said it was the foul was on the floor. TSF took the ball out of bounds threw it in bounds Seth Fitzgerald hits a buzzer beater, not so fast Ref ruled that the shot didn’t count, so there you have it and that’s how the morning started. Bryce Thornton Led TSF with 17pts, Isaiah followed with 13pts.

Freebandz Elite 7th grade team is one of the best 7th grade teams in the country led by Jahkiaus Jones of Thomson Mcduffie Middle school in Augusta, Ga. Freebandz went 2 – 0 in their pool beating Team Carroll (63 – 29) and Advance Athletics (53 – 34) by large margins. Jahkiaus Jones in one of the best 7th graders I have come across scoring at will. FBE beat Arkansas Rising Stars (59 – 54) in the first round of bracket play. Marcellus Brigham, Lavonta Ivery and Kenneth Bailey are major contributors to the Freebandz Elite squad.

Some way somehow Georgia teams always seems to have their battles no matter what state they play in. TSF and Georgia Stars 2023 drove 3 hours to play each other. Georgia Stars was no match for a loaded TSF squad. Seth Fitzgerald led TSF with 21pts, LT Overton trailed with 18pts and Isaiah Collier chipped in with 15pts.

Game of the night 94feet Elite versus NCBC (Bronny’s Team). North Coast Blue Chips led at the half 40 – 38 and the stands were full, mostly the people there wanted to see you guess it Lebron James Jr, but what people witness was one of the biggest upsets in the country. With the game tied and the clock at .7 sec 94feet’s Kamari Slaughter tipped the ball in to beat NCBC. 94feet Elite’s Tevonta Jackson and Ahton Williamson led the way.
